Astún and Candanchú are neighbours and ski as one: two resorts side by side in the Aragón valley, a step from the Somport pass and the French border. Candanchú is the veteran, among Spain's first, known for demanding pistes; Astún is newer and tidier, and works better for beginners. The joint pass gives you both, with Canfranc and its monumental railway station in the background, worth an hour of anyone's time.
